History of CMAAC

25 years ago, Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners in Canada were facing language barriers, cultural differences, the bias of the media, and an unyielding medical establishment.  Moreover, TCM practitioners were like separate grains of sand, making it more difficult to practice the healing art.  Under those circumstances, the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada (CMAAC) was established to unite practitioners and to lobby the government for the Regulation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.  CMAAC’s objectives include: the unification of practitioners of Eastern and Western Medicine, the establishment of high standards of education and training for practitioners, the promotion of the profession, attendance at international conferences and organization of conferences to assist in the scientific exchange of research, and the education of the public through seminars and lectures.
