Learn how to increase precision by using anatomically significant points!
This seminar features the use of advanced acupuncture techniques in the treatment of sports injuries and pain. A systematic Four Step approach that includes ten common acupuncture techniques will be presented as the “template” for treatment. Hip pain, patello-femoral joint syndrome, shin splints, and plantar fasciitis are among the conditions that will be covered in this weekend seminar. Each injury will consist of lecture, demonstration, and supervised practice. The objective is to have the practitioner more informed about the diagnosis and assessment of the injury, as well as be more confident in their approach to treatment. |

Learning Objectives for this Course: |
- The attendee will know the signs and symptoms of 5 gluteal and hip injuries.
- The attendee will know the signs and symptoms of 5 lower extremity injuries.
- The attendee will know 5 orthopedic tests for lower extremity injuries.
- The attendee will know 5 manual muscle tests for lower extremity injuries.
- The attendee will know how to use points from each of the Four Steps in five sport medicine injuries.
- The attendee will know how to describe the anatomy at the site of injury of five sports medicine injuries.

Whitfield Reaves, OMD, L.Ac. has been working in the field of sports medicine since he first began practice in 1981. He earned a Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree in 1983 that included a thesis entitled Acupuncture and the Treatment of Common Running Injuries.Whitfield’s experience in sports medicine includes the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, as well as numerous track and field, ski racing, and cycling events nationally over the last 25 years. He has been in the forefront of the acupuncture sports medicine field, and lectures in North America and Europe. Whitfield lives in Boulder and currently teaches at Southwest Acupuncture College. He is the author of The Acupuncture Handbook of Sports Injuries and Pain. |
