Gua Sha & Plum Blossom Workshop

June 17, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

$100

Looking to add Gua Sha & Plum Blossom
into your practice or simply need a refresher?

This course will teach the professional acupuncturist how to perform and perfect gua sha & plum blossom in an effective & safe manner.

About these modalities…

Gua Sha

GUA – means scraping (to rub or friction at the surface)

SHA – the red petechiae that surfaces below the surface of the skin during “scraping”

Gua sha is a healing technique of traditional Chinese medicine. A round edged instrument is used in a press-stroking manor over lubricated skin to remove blood or qi stagnation and to promote the flow of blood and qi. Unresolved Sha can cause chronic conditions leading to weakness and fatigue, and pain from stagnation will persist until the stagnation is resolved.

Raising sha removes blood or qi stagnation and can offer immediate relief from pain, stiffness, digestive disorders, cough, fever, chill, and many more which continues for several days as the body continues to release toxins and replace them with healthy oxygen-rich blood and fluids. Gua sha is effective in acute and chronic internal organ disorders.

Plum Blossom

Plum blossom, also known as seven-star or dermal needle, is made with stainless steel needles fixed vertically at the end of a flexible handle.  The application of ‘plum-blossom’ needle therapy has a history of more than 1000 years.

The acupuncturist uses the instrument to gently tap an area on the skin until the site becomes red or elicits mild bleeding. This technique helps to invigorate and smooth the qi, and to move or disperse qi stagnation and blood stasis, making it especially effective for treating disorders of the nervous system and skin disease. It is used for headache, dizziness and vertigo, insomnia, gastrointestinal disease, gynecological disease, skin disease, painful joints and paralysis.

Prerequisite:
Open to R.Ac’s & R. TCMP’s only

Participants are required to bring a lab coat and we will provide all the materials.
