Tak Tsurusaki, has been working along side Master Kiiko Matsumoto for over 20 years and has been instructing new Japanese acupuncturists for over 15 years at The Shiatsu School of Canada.
Through his apprenticeship and long term work with Kiiko Matsumoto, Tak Tsurusaki has become recognized as a leader in the field of ‘Nagano style’ Japanese acupuncture.
Pavel Rankin, Hon. B.A.
After graduating from U of T (with majors in History and Linguistics), Pavel travelled to Japan where he lived and worked for two years. He graduated with a diploma of Acupuncture (2400 hours) at the Institute of Traditional Medicine. He has also been apprenticing with Takamasa Tsurusaki, a master of Japanese style Acupuncture, since 2011.
Pavel specialises in Kiiko Style Acupuncture (one of several Japanese styles), noted for its gentle, palpation-based approach and the use of moxa. His solid grasp of Japanese language has enabled him to translate medical documents as well as attend and assist at Acupuncture seminars in Japan, including ones with Kiiko Matsumoto and Tsuyoshi Shimamura.
A practitioner of martial arts since childhood (including Aikido, Iaido, Karate and Western Boxing), Pavel has been an instructor of Kenjutsu (traditional Japanese swordsmanship) since 2010.
Course Description:
This introductory course covers a broad range of treatment techniques from Japan, including abdominal (hara) palpation and diagnosis, subtle needling techniques and moxibustion and paste techniques.
Theory will be taught by Pavel Rankin and the clinic portion will be taught and supervised by Tak Tsurusaki.
For Non SSC Acupuncture Institute Graduates:
Students who wish to register for this post graduate course can do so by submitting a complete application form along with transcripts detailing their level of completing acupuncture training. All students must be registered with the CTCMPAO.
